It is the end of September and it has been a busy month...driving home from Michigan, finishing up the flooring upstairs, getting all the Legos and assorted "stuff" put away upstairs after moving it all into the bathroom/downstairs, getting East Hills 4-H started up for the new year, sorting out our projects and being ready for the meetings next week, motivating club members to do our Ducks for Bucks fundraising (usually done in April), starting up Kaluga with Katherine, Gabriana, and Cole (new addition this year), and finally, beginning ZNL Science with Luke and Zachary )ZNL = Zach and Luke). I am a little amazed we managed to squeeze in a 2 week trip back to Michigan, but it was good to see everyone.
Here are some highlights from the trip:
Luke went on a trip to the Upper Peninsula with Aunt Karen and Aunt Kelly, and Wyatt, the son of a good family friend. They saw waterfalls, did some hiking, went to Oswald's Bear Ranch (rescued baby bears), and took a boat trip to see some cool cliffs and formations.
While they were on their trip to the Upper Peninsula, John and I were driving across country. We stopped in west Michigan first, staying a few days to visit Aunt Maureen, Grandma and Cioca. We then headed over to the east side of the state, to see everyone in Taylor and Monroe. We arrived to Karen, Kelly and Joan's house to find them all waiting for us in the backyard playing 13 Crowns. Just a quiet evening hanging out, and yes, playing even more card games.
Grandma Joan had planned a party for Saturday at my Aunt Verna's house, but unfortunately that had to be cancelled since her brother-in-law Vern had passed away and the funeral was going to be Saturday. We did make it down to my dad's house in Monroe, and hung out with him, Sandy and her daughter Jennifer and granddaughter Jill. Sunday was the day we were going to return to Allegan, but first, we went to a pool party at my cousin Leslie's house. She made insanely good ribs, we got to see the Ehlerts and Johnsons (most of them anyway) and still got to Cioca's house by about 8 pm.
The next day was dinner at the Grill House with almost all of the Boreczkys and no group shot. I knew I should have insisted on one after lunch, but we did a few of everyone around the tables. We hung out at the house talking for a while, and also spent Tuesday hanging out, doing laundry and getting ready to head back to California.
And then it was time for us to leave in the morning, stopping at Lake Michigan to see the water and waves.
All the pictures together, but I think they are pretty self-explanatory:
