This was a Monday night ball game, so no Daddy (too hard to get there in time from work) only Jack and me.
The pictures and the graphic posts tell more, but in short, they won! Luke’s team had no wins last year, so this was sweet for the boys. I was also playing with a phone app while we were watching the game writing up the graphic blocks, but I am not too sure how well those work. I'll post another entry where I edited the pictures themselves with annotations.
Here's the email Coach Maes sent after the game:
Atleticos-
You guys played a great game on Monday! We stressed confidence and strength at our practice the day before, and you owned the game! NO BACKWARDS K's ON THIS GAME!
Everyone was swinging, and we learned that sometimes you get a gift from simply putting the bat out there. Jacob (somehow) pulled off a TRIPLE from a bunt! Emilio smacked out two singles, Beto started our scoring rally with a strong double, Alex, Luke B, and Jude got on base through good singles, and everyone worked those bases! We'll adjust our speed and sliding this week so that we don't give up outs (and runs).
VERY PROUD of Emilio for pulling himself back into strong pitching after a rough first inning. That's true inner strength and motivation showing. He came back strong in the second inning and struck out three in a row to Smash the Bash!
Bryant literally had the other guys DEATHLY AFRAID of his pitching. I love his cool and calm style- he is very deliberate in between pitches. He came in strong and shut down any chance of scoring. He helped us Mash the Bash!
Cristian was impressive at third, with two strong plays there, including a nice pickle play. He's a great contact hitter and worked the bases for some steals.
This was truly an excellent show of teamwork and communication and STRENGTH. We'll practice Thursday and focus on base running, reading signs, SLIDING, and our patented Triple Play drill. And... we'll get in some Batting Practice.
We're all proud of Los Atleticos!
